About

USA TODAY delivers a one-of-a-kind Augmented Reality rocket launch experience, with our space experts from Florida as your guides.

Starting July 16, the app will feature a special 50th anniversary moon landing broadcast. The eight-day broadcast recreates in 3D technology some of the most historic moments from the 1969 Apollo 11 mission. From the liftoff of the mighty Saturn V rocket to the landing on the moon, you’ll get to view the mission in real-time, using AR images, just as it happened 50 years ago.

While you’re watching the AR image, you can follow along with historic NASA video footage and live commentary from FLORIDA TODAY’s space team and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.

321 LAUNCH also will continue to provide live launch coverage.

During a live launch, watch an AR hologram rocket lift off from any flat surface, mirroring the actual rocket mission in real-time.

  • Telemetry data generates a predictive flight-path allowing you to follow the speed, acceleration, and altitude of an active launch.

  • Tap to live video coverage of the launch and follow live commentary as you watch from anywhere in the world.

Download 321 Launch on Android or iOS devices to participate in this special 50th anniversary moon landing experience and to be up close to a rocket launch like never before!

On Saturday, June 20, see a live demo of the 321 Launch app at the Smithsonian Castle in Washington, D.C. Stop by from noon to 5:00 PM, as part of the Smithsonian’s three-day Apollo 50 celebration on the National Mall.
